Chief Actuary

Neil Duncan is the Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer of the London Market Division of OdysseyRe. He has been with the company since 2005 and has been Chief Actuary since 2008. Prior to joining the company, Neil worked for Alea London and for RSA as a Pricing Actuary. He began his training with Sedgwick Noble Lowndes. He attended Durham University where he received a BSc in Mathematics. Neil is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Robert Kastner

Head of Claims

Robert Kastner is Head of Claims for the London Market Division of OdysseyRe and Newline Group. He qualified as a solicitor admitted in England and Wales in 1992, and then as an attorney admitted to the bar in New York in 1995, where he worked as an attorney representing the London Market in professional indemnity and reinsurance coverage matters. In 1998 he joined the reinsurance department of Hogan Lovells and later joined the insurance team at Eversheds. In 2004, he moved in-house as Head of Claims for OdysseyRe’s London Market Division which includes Odyssey’s UK Branch, Odyssey’s Lloyd’s platform, Newline Syndicate 1218 and Newline Insurance Company Limited. Robert was appointed to the boards of Newline Underwriting Management Limited and Newline Insurance Company Limited in 2006. Since 2017, Robert has also been responsible for delivering Newline Insurance Company Limited’s post Brexit solution for its EEA insureds with the formation in 2019 of Newline Europe Versicherung A.G., a German licensed, regulated and capitalized insurance company based in Cologne. Robert sits on the Executive Board of NEVAG and is responsible for NEVAG within the Newline Group.

Stephen Gordon

Underwriting Director

Stephen Gordon is Underwriting Director for the Newline Group. He was re-appointed to the company in March 2014 having previously spent nine years there between 2000 and 2009, initially as COO and then as CUO and Active Underwriter. In between these two periods with Newline, Stephen joined Amtrust as CUO with a view to create a London Market Casualty Division focusing on General Liability, Professional Indemnity and Medical Malpractice. Until 2020, Stephen served as Newline's Chief Underwriting Officer. Stephen earned an honours degree in Economics, Pure Maths and Stats from the University of Wales.

Andrew Pecover

Chief Underwriting Officer and Active Underwriter

Andrew Pecover was appointed Chief Underwriting Officer of Newline Group in June of 2022. He joined Newline in 2018 as its Directors & Officers Liability Team Leader, later advancing to the Head of Financial and Professional Lines and Deputy Active Underwriter. Andrew is responsible for the underwriting operations for Newline Syndicate 1218 and Newline Insurance Company Limited across all lines of business including Affinity and Special Risks, Directors & Officers Liability, Financial Institutions and Commercial Crime, Liability, Life Sciences and Clinical Trials, Medical Malpractice, Professional Indemnity, Space and Cargo & Specie. With more than 25 years of experience in the industry, his background spans multiple roles across Lloyd’s syndicates, brokerage firms and a managing general agency.

Henry Withinshaw

Chief Operating Officer

Henry Withinshaw is Chief Operating Officer of Newline Group and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Newline Europe Versicherung A.G. He joined the company in January 2016 with more than 25 years of insurance and reinsurance underwriting and management experience. Previously, he was with Markel where he was COO of Markel Europe. Prior to that, he worked at Miller Insurance and Sirius International. He started his insurance career as a treaty underwriter in the Lloyd’s market. Henry is on the board of the Lloyd’s Market Association, is ACII qualified and a graduate of the University of Nottingham.

Carl Overy

Chief Executive Officer

Carl Overy is the Chief Executive Officer of the London Market Division of Odyssey Group, which encompasses CEO roles for both Odyssey Reinsurance Company’s London branch and of Newline Group. Within Newline Group, Carl serves as an Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of both Newline Syndicate 1218 and Newline Insurance Company Limited. Carl joined the company in 2001 and was appointed Chief Actuary of the London Market Division in 2002. He was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of the Division in 2008. Prior to Odyssey, Carl was a pricing and reserving actuary for Sphere Drake and an actuarial consultant for Bacon & Woodrow. He attended Nottingham University where he received a BSc in Mathematics with Engineering. Carl is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.

Sonny Kapur is the Chief Financial Officer of the London Market Division of OdysseyRe and Newline Group. He joined the company in 2009 and has more than 30 years of experience in the industry. He is on the Boards of Newline Underwriting Management Limited, Newline Insurance Company Limited, Newline Corporate Name, Newline Holdings UK Limited and the Supervisory Board of Newline Europe Versicherung AG. Prior to joining the company, Sonny had worked for Travelers Syndicate Management Limited as Finance Director. Sonny is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy Studies.
