Plan with Purpose
Plan each meeting with its own specific purpose. Consider: what is the one big question or topic that this meeting needs
to address?
Issue, Point of View, Action, Conclusion
Build agendas and make effective use of time by using a purposeful meeting structure, such as the IPAC method.
Keep It Crisp
How long does each meeting need to be? Think in 15-minute increments. Not all meetings should be an hour, or even half
an hour.
Select the Right Attendees
All are welcome; few are required. Limit required attendees to only those who are truly needed. Include others as optional attendees, and make it clear to them that their attendance is voluntary.
Intellectual Bravery
Be courageous! Innovation is at the core of businesses that are successful and continuously advancing. Take your finger off the fear button and be open to disruptive ideas.
Regular Office Hours
Our minds are more efficient when we have daily routines. Be strategic with time management to build stability, bolster discipline and creativity, and ensure healthy work-life balance.
Separate Workspace
Ensure your workspace aligns with the type of work you do and your personal work style. Having a specific space for job tasks can be vital in helping you to create a routine, drive focus and separate work time from off time.
Physical & Mental Exercise
Innovation and focus can only be optimal when the mind and body are healthy. Prioritize well-being, whatever that means for you. Eat right. Exercise. Practice mindfulness. Value time for yourself and time with family and friends.
Work Out Loud
Communicate, communicate, communicate. Communicate often with your team, your colleagues and your manager.
Manage Expectations
Check in regularly! Have frequent performance reviews and discussions with your manager to ensure you know what is expected of you and you have the resources you need to succeed.
Be "Visible" & Accessible
Distance is not a barrier to availability. Be present and responsive to others: in chat, via email and during meetings. Use phone and video calls to create strong connections with colleagues in different locations.
Shared Purpose
Across the company and within your team, we are all working toward a shared vision and purpose. Every single employee is important in reaching our goals. Understand how your role contributes to the greater OpenText purpose.
Collaborate & Communicate
Narrate your progress to avoid information silos, even as we work from different locations. Keep your team up to date on your projects and tasks. Foster relationships and new ideas through conversations with diverse colleagues.
Embrace Technology
Use the best tools to stay informed, stay in touch and stay on top of tasks. With digital technologies, virtual communication tools and access to data, we can build strong teams and successful collaborations.
Practice Focus
Focus is a skill. The only way to get better at it is to practice. Create a plan, organize your workspace and minimize distractions. With focus, you can bring your best self to your biggest challenges, every day.
Deep vs Reactive Work
Strike a balance between deep and reactive work. Try setting aside blocks of time in your calendar to concentrate on your most complex and critical tasks. Then engage in the smaller tasks, such as emails, that arise during the course of the day.
