Many of our teams are practicing in an AI-adjacent way. AI tools are integrated into our processes for contract and deal document drafting, due diligence, discovery, legal research and writing, and automation. We are experimenting with new use cases daily.
AI-Adjacent Practice
To guide this transformation, our AI Working Group has published robust policies and delivers a full training curriculum, ensuring compliance with client guidelines and maintaining high standards of quality and security. We have a pipeline of innovative use cases and are working with many of our clients’ in-house teams on their own adoption.
For every use case, we consider build vs. buy solutions. Where building makes sense, our Innovation and Digital Transformation teams collaborate with Orrick Labs, our internal skunkworks. Where buying makes sense, we have invested in a suite of best-in-class technologies.
Build vs. Buy
Orrick.ai is our in-house AI platform. It adds functionality based on feedback and use patterns of hundreds of our team members, with an emphasis on collaboration capabilities such as team prompt sharing and workrooms. To ensure safety, it has closed model/restricted document access.

AI usage is fully integrated into our training, coaching and onboarding curricula for all roles on our team (and team members receive credit for time devoted to learning about and developing AI solutions).
