Make It an Epic
A big day on a bike for most riders would involve 5,000 feet of climbing and the same amount of descending. E-MTBs change that equation. Want to rack up to 9,000 feet? Bring a second battery in your pack.

Go Big
On a traditional bike we ride with less suspension travel to save weight. But pedal assist makes that point moot. Pro mountain biker and Bosch ambassador Mark Weir runs 180mm forks and at least 160mm of rear travel.

Traction Boosting
Because Bosch’s pedal assist delivers uniform power output—like a pro cyclist spinning—the rear wheel grips the ground without churning, saving energy by boosting traction.

What Display?
Mountain bikes typically come spec’d with the Kiox (high end) or Purion (cleaner cockpit) displays, but all Bosch-equipped bikes can accept all display systems, so talk it over with your dealer.

Roadies Only?
As with traditional road bikes, traditional e-road bikes are all about going far and fast. If you want more versatility with your speed, look for one that fits fatter tires or an e-gravel bike, which can more readily handle mixed surfaces.

They’re Plenty Fast
E-road bikes feature the same amount of torque as e-MTBs, but that torque is applied differently. A Bosch Class 3 system (no throttle) lets you travel at 28 mph on the flats or even up a slight incline. Your descending speed is up to you.

Don’t Get Gripped on Weight
Pounds and grams might prove to be deciding factors in the future of e-MTBs, where a nimble feel in slow, technical terrain makes for easier handling. But it’s largely a non-issue in e-road. Mechanical power will keep you climbing. And the extra weight only boosts descending stability.
