1. The Marinade Method: Savor an oyster on the half shell with a few drops of Talisker 10 Year Old and just enough of its natural brine left for a smooth transfer.
2. The Shuck-and-Sip: Enjoy a dram of Talisker Storm, neat or on the rocks, as you work your way through a dozen or so briny, fresh oysters.
3. The Oyster Chaser: Down an oyster, add an ounce of Talisker 10 Year Old to the empty shell, and wash it down.
The Pefect Pairing
Crafted to enhance the distillery’s signature smoky and briny flavors, Talisker Storm displays characteristics of the tempestuous seas of its home on the Isle of Skye. It is spicy on the nose, with a hint of struck matches, brine and an oily explosion of pepper. On the palate a deep, nutty smokiness is followed by a hit of wood and brine, finishing with a smooth aftertaste of peaty burnt embers.
Talisker Storm
Much-loved with a smooth and smoky finish, Talisker 10 Year Old is Double distilled to create a rich, deep character embodying maritime characteristics of a coastal whisky. One of the most awarded Single Malt Scotch Whiskies in the world, Talisker 10 Year Old has a sea-salty nose and famously rich and powerful peat-smoke flavor, leaving a warm peppery taste at the back of the mouth.
Talisker 10 Year Old
Three ways to mix two of life’s best indulgences
In 1830, Talisker’s founders crossed the Atlantic from the Isle of Eigg to establish the Talisker distillery on the Isle of Skye. It has remained there ever since, producing consistently fine whiskies for almost 200 years. Today, Talisker is working hard to protect the oceans by reducing its distillery’s energy consumption by 12 percent, improving water efficiency by 22 percent, and completely eliminating waste it sends to the landfill. Talisker is equally committed to improving the sustainability of its packaging, including opportunities to reduce the weight of materials, increase the recycled content, and, ultimately, to remove plastic almost entirely from its primary packaging by 2020.

This crucial step in the reintroduction process completes the oyster lifecycle. Here’s how it works:
1. Refuse oyster shells are collected from over 75 NYC-area bars and restaurants (1.5 million pounds have been collected to date!)
2. The shells are taken by boat to Governors Island where they cure in the sun.
3. After curing, the shells are placed in 25-pound mesh bags and set in brackish water tanks where oyster larvae are introduced.
4. Once those larvae have anchored themselves to the shells, the bags are placed underwater in beds around New York Harbor.
Shell Collection 101
Small but mighty, oysters are critical to oceanic health.
Oysters Matter
200,000 acres: The estimated extent of oyster habitat within New York Harbor before the industrial revolution
50 gallons: The volume of water one oyster can filter each day
Oyster reefs provide critical habitat for other marine species
They also help buffer coastal erosion caused by storms
A nonprofit organization on a mission to restore oyster reefs to New York Harbor through public education initiatives, Billion Oyster Project has reintroduced 30 million oysters across 7 acres and 13 reef sites since 2013, with the help of more than 6,000 students and 10,000 volunteers.
Billion Oyster Project
Oysters and Talisker whisky go together like, well, oysters and whisky. As an homage to the Single Malt’s home by the sea and deep-rooted love for oysters, Talisker is proud to play an active role in working towards Billion Oyster Project’s mission to restore New York’s oyster reefs, funding the organization’s critical shell recovery efforts.
