CHASING THE ELEMENTS
The greatest adventures happen when the right people, exploring the world’s wildest places, are equipped with the right tools.
To celebrate the return of Ford’s most legendary off-road vehicle, we put a handful of iconic adventurers behind the wheel of a Bronco, and set them loose on rock, sand, water and snow.

Mendano Primitive Pass Road
Ron Griswell explores Great Sand Dunes National Park
This is a rough 22 mile road connecting Great Sand Dunes with the Wet Mountain Valley and Colorado State Highway 69. Passable only in the warmer months and only with high-clearance 4-wheel drive vehicles, it gives access to Medano Pass (elevation 10,040’) and Great Sand Dunes National Preserve. This road crosses areas of deep sand, traverses Medano Creek nine times, and passes through excellent habitat for bighorn sheep. Average driving time for the entire primitive road is about 2.5 - 3 hours.

THE WILD LEGACY OF FORD BRONCO
FPO
Each image has an "on click -show target and hide others" interaction applied. Every time you click on an image it will show a specific hotspot in the "Cycle through Hotspots" folder and hide the other Hotspots. The Hotspots in this folder have "on view - change target state" interactions which triggers the images to change to a certain object state.
Object states give you the ability to assign various “states” to an element on the canvas. Each image has four states where the images positions and size changes in each state.
This hotspot has an "on click- cycle next interaction". It is cycling through two folders.
The first folder is cycling through "Cycle through Hotspots". Each Hotspot in this folder has an "on view - change target state" interactions which triggers the images to change to a certain object state.
The second folder is cycling through the "Text" folder. This folder has the added descriptions under each image.
Create an image "preview" for a carousel of images using object states.

Parnelli Jones and Bill Stroppe win the ‘71 and ‘72 Baja 1000 races behind the wheel of a modified Bronco called “Big Oly.” Big Oly would also go on to win the 1973 Baja 500 and 1973 Mint 400. It sold for $1.87 million at auction earlier this year.
The second-generation Bronco launches. Based on Ford’s F-100 truck platform, it’s significantly larger and comes standard with a 5.8 liter V-8 engine and all models are three-door wagons with lift-off rear hardtops.

Ford unveils the Bronco Montana Lobo concept. It came with a 5.0L V-8 as well as removable Plexiglass bubble doors, a wedge-style hood, a roll bar that housed off-road lights, and a custom front bumper with a winch. Sadly, the Montana Lobo never went into production.

Comfort and efficiency upgrades define the third generation of the Ford Bronco. This version comes with independent front suspension—instead of a solid front axle—for a better ride quality. Engineers also shaved off 500 pounds, reintroduced a six-cylinder engine, and designed a more aerodynamic body style for better fuel economy.

The significantly smaller Bronco II appears alongside it’s bigger brother. At 19 inches shorter and nine inches narrower, the Bronco II has better handling when navigating tighter off-road obstacles. At one point Ford offered the Bronco II with a 2.3-liter turbodiesel engine.

The last fifth-generation Bronco is built in Wayne, Michigan on June 12. Following a consumer trend that pointed toward vehicles like the larger Chevy Suburban, the Expedition takes over the Bronco’s spot in 1997.
To celebrate the Bronco’s 25th anniversary, Ford makes just 383, special-edition Nite Edition Broncos with black paint and blacked-out trim. The Nite was a fourth generation Bronco and notable fourth-gen upgrades include rear-wheel anti-lock brakes and an option for push-button four-wheel drive.
1991
After eight years without any major Bronco news, Ford unveils a new Bronco concept at the Detroit auto show. The design tips its hat to the first-generation Bronco, is built on an Escape chassis, and uses Ford’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine.
2004
After more than two decades, Ford finally brings the Bronco back by announcing three new 2021 models—the two- and four-door Bronco, and the Bronco Sport. Ford immediately challenges Jeep for off-road SUV supremacy by offering a number of different Bronco options including the Sasquatch Package that comes with 35-inch tires, front- and rear-locking differentials, and a 4.7 final drive ratio.
