The Johnny Behind the Rocks Trail System provides mountain bikers with a high desert experiences in a compact area. The trails wind and meander through typical Great Basin terrain that ranges from clusters of pinyon-juniper woodlands and open sagebrush meadows. Although open year round, visitors wishing to ride on dirt rather than snow are usually restricted from mid-March to the end of November.

Responsible recreation is a huge part of enjoying the outdoors. With the support of Bronco Wild Fund, Team Bronco Ambassadors awarded $20,000 each—$60,000 total—to three organizations that work toward the common goal of keeping the outdoors great in Wyoming. Since 2005, Teton Adaptive has worked to provide recreation opportunities for people with disabilities in the Greater Teton Area. As part of its year round programming, the organization focuses on inclusion and accessibility in adventure sports.
Founded in 1967, the Wyoming Outdoor Council is the state’s original conservation organization. The nonprofit works to protect public lands and advocate for clean air, clean water, climate resiliency, and wildlife issues across the state.
Bronco Wild Fund supports organizations in their mission to increase access, preservation, and stewardship to protect wild spaces in Wyoming and beyond
Lander, Wyoming
Enjoy 12 miles of beginner to intermediate trails through the high desert of central Wyoming. Pedal through sagebrush meadows and a forest of pinyon pine before you reach a scenic ridgeline trail with views of the Wind River Range to the west. It’s a chance for veterans to form friendships and mentor relationships while enjoying the therapeutic benefits of outdoor recreation.
