Smart Construction
Our use of technology makes construction smarter and enables lean methods, reduces costly rework and warranty claims, improves build quality, conserves energy, increases productivity and safety, reduces our carbon footprint and delivers smart buildings equipped for the future.
As owners, PCLers are more accountable to you, more responsible for every decision, more invested in your success.
Partners
Citizen Care Pod
Pod solutions include the mobile COVID-19 testing pod for testing and vaccinations on a mass scale, the long-term-care visiting pod for reuniting families in the safest way possible and the education pod for providing a safe learning environment.
Supply Chain
We partner with supply-chain leaders, from manufacturing to transportation, to share knowledge and help identify opportunities to minimize the embodied carbon of materials used during construction.
Dare6
We were the first firm to join our long-term partner Algonquin College for the launch of DARE6, a first-of-its-kind program to help further the College’s commitment to truth and reconciliation.
Sustainability in our offices and yards, and on the job site helps us leave a legacy we are proud to build.
Practices
PCL models the highest standards of corporate social responsibility with an uncompromising commitment to safety, diversity, inclusion, sustainability and innovation. This past year showed us how quickly we can come together to adjust, shift and adapt to challenges. We’ll be able to draw on these strengths well into the future to successfully navigate a continually changing landscape. Our CSR Report will continue to share details about our journey ’s evolution and progress.

Safety
Creating a safe and healthy work environment is one of our central guiding principles.
Energy Reduction
We’ve converted to LED job-site lighting to replace less-efficient metal halide technology.
Efficient Equipment
We use hybrid battery-powered boom lifts to eliminate the need for fuel delivery and containment and reduce noise and air pollution.
Waste Reduction
We work with our project partners to set and achieve challenging waste diversion goals.
Sustainable facilities
We’re pilot testing solar-powered job site trailers to reduce our energy use on site.
Greenhouse gas reduction
To reduce embodied carbon, we’re developing methods to source and use products that have lower emissions over their life cycle.
