Plan International is present in many of the countries bearing the brunt of the global hunger crisis. We are scaling up our programs that combat hunger, but the need is large and rapidly growing.
The lives of
26 million children are at risk.
Children too young to walk are surviving on one meal a day, sometimes less.
Entire classrooms are empty because students are too hungry to go to school, while some families don’t know what or when they’ll eat next.
If the world does not pay attention, the millions of people in need of food aid will become a forgotten statistic. And the vast majority of them are girls and young women suffering the worst consequences.

Haiti
• Delivering food supplies
• School feeding programs
• Providing cash transfers
• Providing extra nutrition for
infants, young children and
breastfeeding mothers
Our response
As families endure ongoing strain, the long-term effects of this hunger crisis will leave children, especially girls, at further risk of harmful practices like child marriage and child labour.
the situation
• Delivering cash transfers
• School feeding programs
• Providing livestock &
farming support
Our response
Irregular rains are damaging livelihoods and driving more people into hunger. 1.6 million children under the age of five are suffering from the most visible and life-threatening form of malnutrition.
the situation
• Providing cash transfers
• Delivering water storage kits & purification tablets
• Improving existing water
collection systems
Our response
Haiti relies heavily on importing basic foods. The current food crisis is made worse by economic and political crises that affect imports, low harvests, hurricane season, inflation and rising costs for basic supplies.
the situation
– Locita, 24
I am pregnant and suffering from malnutrition, because I don't have enough food to eat. Sometimes I can't feed my son because I can't afford it.

Even if girls are hungry, we only eat leftovers,
if any. We feed the children first.

• Scaling up food distribution
• School feeding programs
• Providing child protection,
education, hygiene kits
and financial support for
displaced families
Our response
Non-state armed groups often loot and destroy crops, steal livestock, and extort money from communities, forcing families to flee their homes in search of safety and food.
