Four Contenders, Three Races, One Champion.
In just its second season, Overtime Elite — the pro basketball league for players aged 16-20 — is proving it can hoop beyond the hype. Look no further than the play in the best-of-five championship finals showdown between top-seeded City Reapers (14–1 season record) and No.2 seed YNG Dreamers (11–4). The Players’ Tribune went behind the scenes with the Reapers for their Game 1 victory last Friday. Led by identical twins Amen and Ausar Thompson — both projected top-10 picks in the 2023 NBA draft — and 17-year-old Eli Ellis, the Reapers held off a late threat to win 81–77. In Game 2, Ausar Thompson led the Reapers with 22 points, but it was his brother’s buzzer-beating layup that gave the Reapers the 80–78 victory and a 2–0 series lead. Game 3 lights up the Showcourt tonight, streaming live on Amazon Prime.
