Lardon, a salumeria, and Union, a beer bar and restaurant, are located within the same building as Meadowlark (and from the same proprietors). Estereo, another can’t-miss cocktail bar on this list, is a 10-minute walk away.
NOTABLE AND NEARBY
Despite opening at the end of 2022, The Meadowlark feels like it’s been at home in its Logan Square location for decades. With warm Midwestern hospitality, a concise cocktail menu and craveable snacks set within a 100-year-old exposed-brick and raftered interior, Meadowlark exudes a comforting timelessness. Helmed by Chicago native and Violet Hour alum Abe Vucekovich, the drinks achieve a similar effect: They’re simultaneously original and classic, exciting yet approachable. The opening menu, titled Field Guide Vol. 1: Birds of the Midwest, consisted of 16 drinks named after regional birds, while the second menu (and current at the time of publishing), Magic City, draws inspiration from the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. With two years under its belt, Meadowlark has many more to come at its corner of Palmer Street.

Around the corner on Grand Street, Fresh Kills (from Richie Boccato) has been quietly serving some of the best cocktails in Brooklyn for nearly a decade.
NOTABLE AND NEARBY
• When outdoor seating is available, the wisteria-draped garden (book ahead on Resy) might fool you into thinking you’re somewhere between Louisiana and Provence.
• While Maison excels at the A-list classics, look closely and you’ll find lovingly executed takes on B-side hits, like the Yellow Parrot and the Obituary, that make the case for revival.
