PS Editorial Ethics & Guidelines
The leadership team of PS has created the following editorial ethics and guidelines, which our content creation team abides by. As a part of Vox Media, PS also adheres to the Vox Media Editorial Ethics & Guidelines.
Advertising
Advertising is the primary source of revenue at PS. Our parent company, Vox Media, employs a dedicated team responsible for selling advertising space on our properties. Any feature on a Vox Media property paid for by a particular company or advertiser is clearly marked as "presented by," "paid content," "advertiser content." (Read Vox Media's complete Editorial Ethics & Guidelines here.) Advertisements and paid content do not necessarily reflect the views of PS, Vox Media, or our editorial teams.
Affiliate Links
PS content may contain affiliate marketing links, which means our company will receive a commission for purchases made via those links. These affiliate partnerships do not influence our editorial content decisions, and we will include a disclosure when we might earn commission if you buy something through our links.
Comps and Gifts
PS staffers and contributors are permitted to accept products and services for the purposes of editorial review and consideration, as long as that acceptance in no way compromises or guarantees editorial coverage. PS staffers are also permitted to attend media events, press previews, dinners with publicists, and press trips on behalf of brands. Any travel, including transportation and lodging, taken by a PS staffer or contributor that is paid for by a brand or company other than Vox Media should be approved and disclosed on the site within the content produced as a result of the paid or discounted travel.
Conflicts of Interest
PS employees seek to be as objective as possible in our reporting. Our content creators will refrain from participating in activities that would compromise their journalistic coverage of an issue. Any PS employee who has a conflict of interest will be recused from coverage and/or publicly disclose that conflict. Conflicts of interest can include a personal or family relationship, personal financial investment or donations, or working for or promoting a company or organization that they're covering.
Content Removal
From time to time, PS conducts internal audits to identify old content that no longer aligns with our strategy, brand direction, and values. This content may be modified, updated, redirected, or removed at the discretion of editorial leadership.
Corrections
PS makes every effort for stories to be accurate upon publication. Mistakes brought to our attention will be corrected and the inaccurate information removed with an editor's note. Sometimes after publication additional information becomes available that clarifies circumstances of the original story, and if we become aware of any such information, the original story may be clarified at the editor's discretion with a corresponding note.
