Now that we’re true pros at park entertaining, it’s time to take your picnic setup to the next level. From weather-proof pillows to upgraded speakers to portable serveware, this is what you need to wow your crew next time you head outside.
As you already know, the park can be unpredictable — if it rained the day before, or sprinklers went off, or even if a dog surreptitiously peed, the grass can often be damp. Rather than bring a blanket that’s going to get wet spots and soak through to your clothes, look for one that’s made with a water-resistant material. Extra points if it folds up neatly for optimal storage.
To make sure everyone is comfortable during your hang, bring some larger floor pillows and supportive back pillows that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Jute is a great material to use, as is polyester canvas — especially if it has a weather-proof coating.
The Vibe: Tunes and Tech
Despite not being in your own backyard, you can still fire up some burgers or char a few vegetable skewers — all you need is a baby BBQ of sorts, i.e. a portable grill. These little cuties usually use charcoal to get going. Just make sure you dispose of the hot coals properly so you don’t contribute to any fires.
And because everyone can agree that a party lives and dies by the music, having a quality portable speaker ready, along with a killer playlist, is key.
