We’re celebrating how disabled folks are making the outdoors more accessible — because nature belongs to everyone.
All Access
The outdoors imparts a sense of freedom — a limitless space meant for everyone that can feel sacred, private, and special. But the reality is that our national parks and public-land treasures haven’t historically been accessible to all of us. Today, the disability community is redefining that relationship to nature.
Where legislation and national resources have fallen short, changemakers and grassroots organizations have come together and stepped up so that people of all abilities can enjoy being active and feel that sense of belonging.
In this special issue, PS is spotlighting the moments, people, resources, and tech that have helped close the chasm. Here’s to creating a future where nature feels natural to everyone.
