Bar Nayuta
Ame-mura (American Village) is the district where slacker teens loaf in baseball jackets and Supreme hoodies as hip-hop, K-pop and vape smoke fill the air. Amid the tumult is Bar Nayuta, a speakeasy that opened a decade ago as a DJ bar with a Jägermeister machine, but has since morphed into a craft cocktail destination. Hiro Nakayama hides the brand-name bottles, displaying only black jars of tinctures: pine needles, pepper, frankincense and myrrh among them. He offers twists on classics, like a patchouli Gimlet or bergamot Sidecar, or best of all, an Old-Fashioned with his commercially released Nayuta bitters, flavored with osmanthus, patchouli and spikenard. Drinks come in Baccarat glassware, and because the clientele is young and boisterous, there is also a gallery of broken Baccarat on the backbar.
