Pasania
When Yoshio and Chie Nakagawa’s parents opened their okonomiyaki shop 50 years ago, they couldn’t have imagined it would one day draw the world’s top winemakers. But, in the years since, the likes of Philippe Pacalet, Sébastien Riffault and Pierre Overnoy have all signed the visitors book, not just to sample Pasania’s signature dish, but to explore the top-notch wine list. Yoshio began serving natural wines back in 2000, before any of his customers even knew what that meant. His cellar of 300 bottles includes rare gems from Japan’s best vintners, and he pairs them with Osaka culinary staples yaki-udon, yaki-soba and an uncommonly fluffy, slow-cooked okonomiyaki. Sister Chie runs the front of house with typical Osakan warmth.
