Los Galgos
Bar and café culture has been an important aspect of Buenos Aires’ quotidian identity for over a century. Porteños meet at their favorite barrio spot for people-watching, reading, chatting with friends and, of course, drinking. Known as bares notables or cafés notables, the city government has deemed over 80 of these venues historic locations of cultural significance. Los Galgos, in the heart of the theater district, has earned that distinction and caters to clients of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. It’s open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but the best time to go is for afternoon vermouth hour, to order La Fuerza (the housemade vermouth), a Negroni on tap or a Cynar con soda.
