1990 - Present

2023:

PGE filed Oregon's First Clean Energy Plan, which outlines the company's path to maintaining reliability and affordability for customers while decarbonizing. Learn more about the Clean Energy and Integrated Resource plans.

2009:

PGE completed work on a first-of-its-kind Selective Water Withdrawal system at Pelton Round Butte, earning PGE its second Edison Award for innovation and leadership. By 2010, the first returning native salmon began making it back to the upper Deschutes.

1995:

PGE was the first to establish a West Coast wholesale energy trading center in the World Trade Center building. This allowed PGE to manage the gap created by Trojan’s closure and the growing energy demands of the region.

1993:

PGE became the first utility in the nation to voluntarily decommission a large nuclear plant for economic reasons, closing the Trojan Nuclear Plant.

"A Dam No More" tells the 21st century story of one of America's first large-scale dam removals.

2007:

PGE removed the Marmot Dam from the Sandy River — at the time, it was the first large dam removed in the Pacific Northwest in 40 years. The effort restored fish runs from Mount Hood to the Pacific.

2022:

PGE launches new Income-Qualified Bill Discount program for customers, which was a first of its kind for large, investor-owned utilities in Oregon.

2021:

PGE was the first utility in the Nation to join the Amazon Climate Pledge.

2015:

Originally launched in 2011 on the Portland State University campus, PGE's first Electric Avenue moved to World Trade Center in downtown Portland. It celebrates 10 years of EV charging in 2025.

1940:

PGE became the first utility in the nation to have two-way radios in line vehicles for more efficient dispatching.
