The Montreal housing market is currently a seller’s market, but certain property types and areas are expected to shift into balance in 2023. Currently, move-up and move-over buyers are driving demand in the region – a trend expected to carry over into next year. Single-detached homes are in highest demand.
Three main trends are expected to impact activity in 2023, including slower movement in the market, an influx of move-up buyers and a continuing shift into balance. Now in the post-pandemic, housing demand is beginning to return back to pre-pandemic levels. Prices are expected to adjust downward slightly in 2023.

In sharp contrast to 2022, 60% of regions analyzed are expected to experience balanced market conditions in 2023 – a trend that’s already materializing due to current economic conditions.
