Meet the women playing a major key in shaping the future of the music industry
We are proud to announce our first-ever
Major Mujeres list, honoring Latinas in the music industry who are working tirelessly to change the space. Our women staff and contributors have hand-selected these exceptional individuals, and we couldn't be more thrilled to recognize their hard work and achievements this Women's History Month.
Despite facing significant challenges in a
male-dominated industry, these women have made remarkable contributions across various sectors, including artist relations, legal, and executives. We're excited to highlight their accomplishments and showcase their inspiring stories.
At Remezcla, we firmly believe that increasing the representation of women behind the scenes is crucial to creating a more advanced, safe, and inclusive industry. Through this annual list, we hope to advocate for change and inspire the next generation of Latina leaders in the music industry. Without further ado, we invite you to scroll through our selected Major Mujeres below, and click on their links to learn more about each of them.
“The music space being a
'boys club,' it tends to erase the
contributions of women in
storytelling and music creation to a different level."
“Hopefully, more women are willing to recognize that it really
is not a competition because the music industry is not a zero-sum game; we can all gain from this."
“If I were somewhere other than music, it would be the
wrong place."
“I’m not done. I feel like I'm just getting started every day."
“I’ve always been very dedicated to achieving my goals and it comes from my mom. I saw my mom working day in and day out for her family."
“[Women] have been taken advantage of constantly under the assumption that the industry gets to tell them what their contributions are, and not the other way around.”
“We have to allow ourselves to understand that it's not only our struggle, it's not only
our fight."
“It’s great that I can be heading up a label, and maybe that fills a number, but what matters is what I do with it. How many more women
can I bring forth?"
“I want to do whatever the opposite of gatekeeping is and absolutely give women as many tools as they can to succeed."
“If one looks at those who are contributing to these transformations within our music industry, the truth is that it's women who are behind it."
"I want to look back and know that
I successfully created a safe space
for creatives."
