Can you imagine what basketball would look like today without the three-point shot? The three-pointer has become the most crucial play in basketball but back in the day games were won and lost around the basket. That is, until Lem and Lime stepped in with a few radical ideas of their own.
The STARRY® brand ambassador duo had larger-than-life dreams to shake up the game of basketball as we know it. Their first few ideas didn’t quite pop, but eventually they stumbled on to a novel idea to inject the game with a bit more juice. They put their rinds together and in the process, they uncovered a universal truth that led to the creation of the three point shot: Three is greater than two.
It’s time to take you into the minds behind the sport’s most important line. Below we caught up with basketball visionaries Lem and Lime for an exclusive interview where they talk making of 3>2, pitching the three-pointer, and discovering Jamal Murray’s STARRY potential, and more.
Below you can check out 3>2, the never-before-told story of how Lem and Lime used simple math to make an undeniable (and maybe even unbelievable?) mark on the game. The film features NBA stars Zion Williamson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Jamal Murray and retired vet Matt Barnes.

REVOLT, Lem, Lime
He’s probably right. I love hoops but unicycling has always been more my speed!
No offense to my round running mate over here, but I’ve got him by at least 7 inches (Note: Today Lem stands at a towering 3’7”). I was the tall kid in our high school class so it’s really not much of a contest.
Before we wrap things up I have to ask, whose winning in a game of one on one between the two of you?
TUH, big paid. You see the drip and the juice.
No comment. Let’s just say we’ve been seeing a lot of green for the last 40 years.
Please tell me you have “He’s on fire” trademarked.
The skincare routine has always been on point. Plus, you know citrus 🍋 don’t crack.
Honestly, it’s just keeping active and having a refreshing can of STARRY from time to time. Oh! And this seamoss stuff I keep hearing about. I gotta say, I gave it a try after KAT told me about it on set and it’s been working wonders.
For inventing the three-pointer 40-plus years ago, you both look like you can still score a bucket today. What’s the secret?
There’s just something special about how the ball comes off his fingers. When he shoots it it’s like the ball gets lost in the clouds and next thing you know, “swish!”. And that “blue arrow” celebration of his cracks me up every single time! Talent and charisma.
He’s a once-in-a-lifetime talent — a celestial 💫 being is what I would say. I’m glad the world is finally seeing what Lem and I knew since he was a kid.
We could’ve told you back then he’d be an NBA champ today. 🏆 Maaaaaan, he did his thing. Did you see him out there? Speaking of which, I hope you caught me and Lime courtside at his last game in Denver. I was the one in the dope green kicks.
Really early on we could tell that he was “him.” Reminded me of a younger me — Lem, the original “him.” Murray was shooting from real deep as a kid. What the film didn’t show was that he was splashing threes from across the street.
Now that you mention special shooters, let’s talk Jamal Murray. What made you guys want to take him under your wing?
Now the three pointer is the most popular play in all of sports. All the youngins in gyms across the country are chucking threes from way behind the line before they can make layups and that’s all thanks to yours truly. You peep our camp right? All of them got jumpers. That ain’t by accident.
No one can say we didn’t make the league better. “From the Logo,” “Hand Down,” “BANG” — even the lingo is lit. That couldn’t have happened without us and we figured it’s time we let people know what really went on back in the day.
We just wanted to share our story with the world. We’re here to be a light for all the young ball players out there. Not everyone can dunk but everyone can make a jump shot with enough practice and a little luck. Or if you shoot like me, maybe more than a little luck!
What made you want to make 3>2?
They didn’t have the vision to see the genius in our “ice in the paint” and “ball on fire” concepts, but once we circled back with the three point shot, they couldn’t help but buy in, you know? Now the league’s got juice and they’ve got us to thank, in my humble opinion. 😎
The stars just aligned really. It wasn’t about who was in the room, it was about the right idea at the right time. And you never know where the right idea is gonna come from, you know? This one came to me in a dream. Or maybe I was brushing my teeth? 🤔 No, I was daydreaming while brushing my teeth. The details are fuzzy, but you get the picture.
Who was in the room when you pitched the 3-point shot to the NBA?
