For OUR COMMUNITIES
Our reach across the nation
COVID-19 has taken an economic toll on the world, and many in our communities are facing an unexpected loss of income, are struggling to feed their families or care for children out of school, or are having trouble covering medical expenses. In addition, many across the country are working jobs that are putting their own lives at risk.
As the world navigates this crisis, and while we recover from it, SAIC is doubling down on its commitment to support the communities where we live and work by helping feed America’s hungry, supporting our healthcare heroes, and donating to a variety of related causes.
We are keeping our communities strong and resilient

Our employees have access to benefits and wellbeing resources, such as telemedicine and employee assistance services at no cost to see them through COVID-19. In our health plans, we are covering certain COVID-19 diagnostic services at 100% with no employee out of pocket costs. We’re implementing new 401(k) relief options made available in the CARES Act. And in addition to our current leave programs, we are implementing a new COVID-19 leave donation and relief program where employees can donate hours for use by their colleagues impacted by COVID-19 and SAIC will match those hours up to $1 million dollars.

We continue to encourage our employees to take CDC-approved preventative measures, including staying home when they are sick, teleworking whenever possible, and practicing social distancing and/or wearing face coverings inside our facilities. Our facilities are being cleaned regularly, with special attention to high-touch points, and we’re providing employees who are not able to telework with supplies to keep their workstations clean. Furthermore, we shifted all
in-person meetings to virtual events.

SAIC offices across the country are repurposing 3D printers to make personal protective equipment (PPE) to serve the healthcare community. Our teams in Charleston, South Carolina; Indianapolis, Indiana; Crane, Indiana; and Cookeville, Tennessee, are partnering with local businesses to print face-shield visors and comfort-designed mask straps for local hospitals. Our teams plan to make weekly PPE deliveries for as long as there is a need.
Additionally, We have partnered with Yellowhammer Brewing in Huntsville, Alabama, to support its transition from making brews to making hand sanitizer in response to COVID-19. We are donating all hand sanitizer produced to law enforcement, healthcare workers, and others on the frontlines fighting COVID-19.

SAIC is a founding partner of the Virginia Ready Initiative (VA Ready), a non-profit founded in response to economic hardships and joblessness caused by COVID-19. With a focus on minority communities disproportionately impacted by COVID-19, VA Ready marries Virginia’s business needs with high-quality, short-term training programs offered by community colleges to help equip thousands of unemployed Virginians with the skills needed for in-demand jobs in high-growth sectors.
“SAIC is very proud to take part in the VA Ready program to help address the growing unemployment in Virginia resulting from these times of crisis. By retraining unemployed Virginians in skills that fill in-demand jobs, VA Ready will benefit our communities and economy while giving companies like SAIC access to a broader and more diverse talent pool.” – Michelle O’Hara, Chief Human Resources Officer
