JRE is a critical component supporting the communications backbone for U.S. and Coalition forces who rely on near-instant exchange of tactical communications for situational awareness. JRE answers the call, delivering visual, text, and digital commands over multiple Line-of-Sight (LOS) and Beyond-Line-of-Sight (BLOS) networks with very low latency. JRE is highly platform-independent, and it can function as a software-only gateway solution or run on a selection of provided imaged-hardware platforms that are cyber security tested and approved. Each solution bridges disparate networks in order to support a common operational picture.
The SAIC Joint Range Extension (JRE) gateway is a combat-proven Tactical Data Link (TDL) router that provides clear, real-time battlespace visualization in support of U.S. and Coalition forces across the globe. Fast, interoperable, secure, and with over 2,000 systems fielded worldwide, it is the backbone of every major U.S. operation, including Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Noble Eagle (ONE).

Our customers face the challenge of modernizing their communications platforms and systems amid shrinking budgets, rising complexity, and emerging architectures. We created JRE in the operating system-agnostic JAVA programming language, so it integrates easily into existing architectures and platforms and is poised for the DoD's future joint all-domain command and control (JADC2) concept. JRE comes highly configurable and MIL-STD compliant.
Jre Key Features
PLATFORM-AGNOSTIC,
ALL-DOMAIN DATA INTEGRATOR
JRE’s platform-agnostic data integration capability reflects SAIC’s premier standing as a vendor neutral technology integrator for the DoD. JRE can feed command centers, aircraft, vessels, and ground personnel across all branches of the armed services, unifying air, sea, and land operations in a joint all-domain command and control environment. JRE connects every sensor, shooter, and command element in the JADC2 architecture, preparing the DoD for the battlefields of tomorrow.

THE GLOBAL STANDARD THAT BRINGS MISSION SUCCESS
JRE: The Tactical Data Link (TDL) Gold Standard around the globe
North American Aerospace Defense Command
JRE is the TDL backbone that provides the U.S. and Canada with an accurate situational awareness picture of air and maritime threats.
U.S. Air Force
JRE is the heartbeat of the Air Force's Middle East in-theater TDL architecture.
Commonwealth of Australia
JRE is the TDL gateway of record for the nation’s homeland defense network, including on-board the Royal Australian Air Force’s Boeing E-7A Wedgetail, C-130J and C-17 fleets.
U.S. Department of Defense
JRE is the primary TDL gateway for the Air Force and Marine Corps A-MANPADS program, and the TDL backbone in almost all areas of responsibility (AORs).
High
Performance
JRE processes over 20,000 tracks, surpassing all other tactical data link gateways, with duplicate track source selection, specialized filtering, smart forwarding, and data loop protection with an Availability of 99.98%.
Flexible and Adaptable
JRE's software is primarily built with Java, which means it runs on virtually all operating systems and hardware platforms, including ruggedized tablets and smart phones.
Easy to Use
JRE has an intuitive graphical user interface allowing operators to instinctively perform basic link setup and forwarding tasks, minimizing training time and cost.
Efficient, Low-Cost Integration
JRE's platform-agnostic design allows for low-cost integration with the most economical hardware available from a Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) perspective. JRE's TRL-9 status means cybersecurity accreditation, Joint MIL-STD certifications and flight certifications can be leveraged for immediate field deployment.
Regular Updates and New Releases
SAIC is continuously maintaining the JRE software for compliance with updated MIL-STDs and compatibility with new radios, in addition to offering additional capabilities.
