Digital Engineering
SAIC's proven capabilities and solutions enable defense programs to meet DOD's mandate for DE compliance, mission effectiveness
Delivering mission-ready digital engineering solutions
The issuance of Department of Defense Instruction 5000.97 on digital engineering now requires DE for engineering development and sustainment for all programs initiated after Dec. 21, 2023. SAIC's extensive investments in DE provide a clear and straight path for customers to comply with DODI 5000.97 in their plans and execution. We can deliver capabilities individually for a specific engineering domain, connect engineering data to create a digital thread and provide a complete DE ecosystem for open and transparent collaboration. Some of our capabilities include:
Our free system model Validation Tool improves the quality of models
Intended for systems modelers, engineers and users, our Digital Engineering Validation Tool is a set of rules and customizations for the MagicDraw, Cameo Enterprise Architecture and Rational Rhapsody modeling tools to guide teams to make uniform choices. The rules enforce style guides and language semantics, resulting in system content that's machine-readable for analysis tools. Review time for large system models is reduced to minutes.

Model-based systems engineering
Product lifecycle management and sustainment, bolstered by digital threads
Computer-aided design, as well as digital-based development, test and evaluation using digital twins
No longer optional for programs, digital engineering is central to accelerated fielding and adaptation of defense systems and capabilities against new, sophisticated and rapidly evolving threats. A respected industy leader in DE, we were part of DOD's DE strategy formulation and have proactively launched enterprise infrastructure, resources and capabilities like our award-winning ReadyOne DE ecosystem to deliver immediate broad-spectrum capabilities and benefits.
We built our digital engineering on the strategic goals of the DoD, intelligence community and civilian agencies.
We align our digital engineering capabilities with the top priorities of defense, intelligence, and civilian agencies. Through model-centric development, secure infrastructure, continuous innovation, and workforce transformation, we help customers accelerate system delivery and adapt to emerging mission demands.

Model-centric design
A model-based approach allows us to digitally represent systems from the time they are conceived all the way through the lifecycle to disposal. This provides opportunities to rapidly and efficiently experiment, prototype and take risks (virtually) early and often to make the best decisions possible.
By having a shared and consistent knowledge resource, the right people will have access to the right information for the right use at the right time. This facilitates data-driven decisions to provide adaptability to changing needs and warfighter requirements in real time.
Interact with digital technology and solve problems in ways never before imagined using the latest tools and practices as they become available.
Host this digital engineering technology on robust, collaborative and secure infrastructure and environment that supports DE activities. This is a crucial enabler and the foundation for advancing the state of the practice of digital engineering.
Fully adopt and support digital engineering processes and best practices by cultivating a culture of change that embraces digital engineering while developing a skilled workforce that can adapt to the new digital realities.

Model-centric design
SAIC gives engineering organizations a model-centric systems lifecycle solution, from digital architecture and requirements engineering through our DARE offering, to engineering design and development, modeling and simulation, and on to verification and validation. In addition to performing additive manufacturing from the 3D data model using model-based definition, systems requirements and data are leveraged in our model-based product support in the sustainment phase.
We have earned considerable industry credibility for our model-based systems engineering with our widely adopted Digital Engineering Validation Tool, which contains a style guide and validation rules to conduct consistent and mistake-free system modeling.

Single source of truth
The digital backbone of federated engineering and product lifecycle management tools within our ReadyOne™ ecosystem maintains an authoritative source of truth for data. This digital thread creates a traceability-enabled systems data model and accelerates agile and collaborative development, connecting the requirements phase to design and development and all the way through production and sustainment.
Data and information from multiple perspectives can be parsed from the systems model to serve different engineering teams and stakeholders. We enable an “any tool, any digital thread” approach that meets your needs while eliminating vendor lock-in.
