Seerist’s Dedication to Data
Agility in Source Research, Collection, and Integration
Collections is the foundation of Seerist. Our sources of data are critical in ensuring that our artificial intelligence models are working alongside our expert analysts, enabling our users to not only monitor but stay ahead of relevant threats.
“What I like about Seerist is that it can quickly adapt to our needs. Once we understood that we are a target for specific groups, your collection team jumped on it and found relevant sources to monitor. As these channels constantly change, your team is always updating which sources to include within Seerist. It ensures a peace of mind”

Our approach
Collections is a balance of quality and quantity. This is why our collections team actively curates sources on Seerist to ensure that clients have access to the most relevant, timely and useful information available in open sources. The careful selection of sources also reduces noise on Seerist, allowing clients to gain situational awareness without being overwhelmed by a flood of data.
Our collections is centered on both client-specific needs, as well as data that reflects time-sensitive events. We draw information from sources including the best international, national, and local news outlets across the globe, official outlets such as governments and emergency services, as well as a range of activist and extremist platforms. Where relevant, we also identify sources and networks of disinformation, to help clients navigate an increasingly complicated and opaque media environment.
Seerist takes pride in our agility in identifying, adjusting, and adding new sources based on the intelligence gaps and needs of our clients.
A potential client participating in a Seerist pilot requested additional sources in the vicinity of Kenya and Somalia.
“Seerist is great! I don’t feel overwhelmed by the amount of information in there, rather I can see how the articles that you pull from OSINT are much better quality than the ones I receive from other providers. You really do a lot of work to ensure that sources are accurate and relevant!”

Our human touch
Collections is key to intelligence, and at Seerist we are investing in the people who curate our data sources. Our focus on robust source quality is mirrored in our growing collections team, incorporating subject matter expertise, technical OSINT skills, and broad linguistic capabilities, with over a dozen languages spoken across the team.
It’s our people who enable Seerist to take both a proactive and reactive approach to source collection to enable rapid, reliable decision making when it matters most.
Our collections team works closely with clients to understand their areas and topics of focus, and then builds bespoke collection plans to provide clients with source monitoring of specific relevance to their operations.
The team also acts to pre-empt the evolving risk and information environment, continuously building out our access to new types of sources to keep clients a step ahead of the news cycle. This includes moving beyond mainstream platforms such as X and Facebook to also identify new and emerging social media networks, discussion forums, and independent communication platforms.
Case Study: Enhancing Data on a Geographic Area
“We were very happy to see some of the upgrades that we recommended were already addressed and went live. Having a partnership with developers is critical for us. Our mission is always changing, and open-source reporting is constantly changing, so having developers who can help us adjust with current trends is critical.”
— PAI Cell Lead
A day later Seerist’s collections team was able to research and identify more than 40 sources of content specific to the organization’s operations in the region. These were in Somali, Kiswahili, and English, and included local news, social media accounts and forums, as well as other authoritative and government sources.
Within a week the newly vetted sources were added to Seerist, giving the client unrivaled information to support the security of their operations.
Case Study: Monitoring a Group
“The amount of data from a variety of sources and the data types were beneficial.”
— PAI Analyst
A client approached Seerist after being targeted in a series of surprise anarchist attacks, in which their sites had been vandalized.
Our collections team identified the open-source platforms and forums where the anarchist activists were discussing and promoting their upcoming actions, and our developer team quickly integrated these on Seerist.
The client is now able to prepare for upcoming actions and prevent intrusion and vandalism of its sites.
