Aker Security, operates with a group-wide mandate and facilitates 24/7 emergency and non-emergency security services for all Aker portfolio companies globally. The Aker group is an industrial conglomerate with companies concentrated within the sectors of oil and gas, renewable energy and green technologies, industrial software, seafood, and marine biotechnology.
Aker Security is responsible for securing and ensuring the safety of Aker group staff worldwide and enabling an efficient workplace. The Aker Security team supports 75 legal entities, 45 global assets, and more than 33,000 employees across all facets of security including events, geopolitical analysis, physical asset monitoring, information technology security, and employee travel security. Aker Security works closely with Aker on strategic planning, coordination, security advice, and initiatives for companies across the Aker group.

The Customer
With a mindset of continually enhancing its security operations, Aker Security began using the Core platform 6 years ago with Control Risks. Initially, it was primarily used for compliance, information gathering, and analysis. As the scope of the security mandate expanded, so did its use of the Core solution.
Following the 2022 merger of Geospark Analytics and Controls Risks Core, which formed Seerist, Inc., Aker Security decided to move to the new Seerist solution, which offered a larger array of threat forecasting and monitoring, risk intelligence, and analysis capabilities.
The Opportunity
Before the formation of Seerist, Aker group security functions, leveraged the CORE solution to support its strategic and compliance initiatives. CORE provided the users with access to reliable expert analysis and forecasting on key political, security, operational, and cyber risks and threats to all employees, including its travelers, and assets. In addition to strategic forecasting, Aker group security functions used CORE’s content to support mergers and acquisitions, new market entry assessments, and associated due diligence processes.
Aker group cyber security functions leveraged the +Cyber offering to understand current threats and emerging trends in the fast-evolving cyber landscape.
After trialing the Seerist solution, Aker Security found Seerist to be a valuable addition to its solution portfolio due to its faster, real-time data capabilities and the ability to anticipate potential threat events before they unfold. They also saw the value in the human verification of threat data, and the contextual insight needed to build decision confidence for leaders across the group.
