The SIG SAUER MCX SPEAR rifle, now designated as the M7 for the U.S. Army, represents a major advancement in hybrid ammunition battle rifles. Developed under SIG SAUER’s initiative in the Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) program starting in 2018, the M7 combines the robustness of AR-10 platforms with the flexibility of the MCX’s modular design. This development exceeded the U.S. Army’s stringent requirements, leading to SIG SAUER winning the NGSW contract in 2022.
The M7 is engineered to maximize the potential of the SIG FURY 6.8x51 Hybrid Ammunition, a highpressure, high-velocity round that offers unmatched lethality. Along with SIG SLX Suppressors, which reduce sound, flash, and gas backflow, the MCX SPEAR system enhances soldier performance on the battlefield. This platform not only aligns with modern military tactics but also sets a new standard for future infantry weapons, ensuring superior battlefield capabilities for the U.S. Army.
