Organisations whose people are happiest with their work perform best across an array of indicators having to do with business success. Myriad factors impact this experience, and not all of them originate in HCM. But much of the employee experience intersects with HCM, and perhaps the greatest concentration of influence over the employee experience rests in the onboarding function. This is especially true with modern onboarding, an expansion well beyond the original intent of onboarding. Onboarding came to be as a much-needed point solution to streamline compliance with laws around hiring people. Much of this has long been baked into core HR as standard equipment, a bare minimum that barely does the term onboarding justice anymore. Modern onboarding expands the domain and depth of the practice dramatically. With it, we see anew that onboarding is a point solution applicable to new hires and much more and indispensable to preserving and optimizing the employee experience.
