Karen Brookes and
Michael Divers wing walk
After a number of delays, SRM’s Chief People Officer Karen Brookes and People Director Michael Divers finally took to the skies on a sponsored wing walk in support of Maggie's on 2nd May. Together they’ve raised circa £3.5k.
Sporting challenges – Danny, Patrick and Russell (2022)
Many thanks to our sporting heroes for their
wonderful efforts:
- Russell’s Great North Run raised £550- Patrick’s Scilly Island swim raised £1,600- Danny’s London Marathon raised £900Total raised: £3,050
That equates to 50 hours of cancer support on a
'Getting Started' course.
These help Maggie's visitors understand what's involved
in their cancer journey and more about the treatment and
side effects that they might encounter.

During 8th September – 6th October, aligning with the Rugby World Cup, our colleagues ran, walked, swam and cycled raising more than £10.8k for Maggie's.
The funds raised equate to 575 hours of Nordic walking which has been proven to help physical fitness whilst also building confidence and reducing anxiety during and after cancer treatment.
“It’s exactly the right intensity for when you’ve got fatigue, it’s the right
level of sociability for when you’re in recovery, and it has the upper
body aspect for when you’re recovering from breast cancer.” Maggie’s centre visitor
Go outrageously orange
During the month of February 2023, colleagues went outrageously orange across the UK and collectively raised over £2,500.
The funds raised equate to 240 hours of cancer support for family days like Vicky. This film shows how important the support Maggie's provide for families is when a parent is facing an advanced cancer diagnosis.
Golf Day Southampton 2022
Our golf day was held on 25th August and saw teams made up of our colleagues compete against our supply chain partners and clients at Corhampton Golf Course in Southampton.
The total funds raised was £2162.59 which equates to 40 more hours of cancer support on a 'Getting Started' course.

Christmas Carol Concert 2022
Our charitable giving committee donated £25,000 in support of the Christmas Carol Concert.
That equates to 2,400 hours of benefits advice where Maggie's provide support and guidance to patients and their families on what is available and how to claim etc. For example, Without Maggie’s, Janusz would have been left without any money.

Tour de Barcelona
Thanks to our amazing Tour de Barcelona riders who raised circa £24k.
That equates to 200 hours of mental and emotional support with a clinical psychologist for people like Richard who has recovered from tonsil cancer.
