“Skanska has catalyzed my continually growing desire to learn and expand my construction management knowledge. During my internship, I’ve been exposed to learning experiences that are not accessible in Puerto Rico, such as different construction materials, codes and operations at this magnitude.”
How has Skanska played a role in developing you and your skill sets throughout this internship?
"This internship has been my first real dive into the commercial real estate development world. It's been exactly what I've hoped for and more. This is the exciting area where we can propose ideas and figure out how to bring them to reality. Most importantly, I’m developing my voice and agency to live my values through my work, advocating for inclusive and community-centered design."

"Before starting my internship, I had little knowledge of the construction world. I was lucky enough to visit a job site in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where Skanska is working on the UNC Surgical Tower project. I looked at six floors of work in progress and learned a lot about what goes on in the building world."
What's been your favorite part of your internship so far?

"To pick one thing is hard because my time here since day one has been everything I could have ever wished for. But, if I had to pick my favorite part of my internship so far, it would be how well the team has done with including me and making me feel as a valuable member of the team rather than just a summer intern. Since my first day, my manager, as well as the rest of the team, has gone above and beyond with helping me become integrated with the project. The work environment instantly made me feel comfortable and not shy to ask questions, which I feel is the most important part of any internship."
What's been your favorite part of your internship so far?
