Design and Drawing Studio
This studio allows students to hone their skills at drawing including figures, sketching, object drawing and more.
Art Studio
The art studio provides a place for students to learn design and techniques for a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, ceramics, stone carving and more.
Digital Lab
The digital lab provides access to real devices and browsers through an automation interface with a guaranteed level of uptime to support development of web and mobile apps.
Audio Lab
The audio labs provides resources for recording, editing and mastering digital audio files.
Capstone & Club Projects
Capstone projects represent the intersection of students' academic learning and their future careers in engineering.
Ideation Lab
The ideation lab provides a space to generate ideas and solutions through sessions such as Sketching, Prototyping, Brainstorming, Brainwriting, Worst Possible Idea and other ideation techniques.
Machine Shop
The machine shop teaches students to cut raw materials to convert them to desired sizes and shapes. The shop houses different hand tools, cutting tools, power tools and machine tools used in machining.
Wood Shop
Students learn woodworking skills including carving, carpentry and more.
Welding
Students have the opportunity to learn the basics of welding including safety, tools and more.
Electronics
The electronics lab teaches students about electronics and robotics.
Combustion and Propulsion Lab
The combustion and propulsion lab teaches students about machine engines and researches efficient techniques.

The roof removal continues. Sitework continues to expand the view of the Willamette River to the west. Erosion control is set and ready for the rain!

Excavation of the west side continues to open up space for new foundations. Level 2 slab removal to create a seamless transition between new and existing portions of the building.

Level 2 west concrete foundations have been poured. This space will become the industry partner suites. Level 2 east foundations are formed and rebar is being set.

Progress Update Overview
Level 2 west concrete shear walls have been poured. Foundation expansion has begun on level 1. This is necessary to transform the building from three to four levels.

Since the existing building steps up onto the hillside, foundation expansion and reinforcement is necessary on all three ground levels to support the new building.

The elevator core is a major structural element of Shiley-Marcos. With level 1 and 2 complete, the concrete crew is moving up to form the third level of the elevator shaft.

With formwork on the elevator and the southeast shear wall, Shiley-Marcos has now surpassed the existing Physical Plant to begin the fourth level.

First slab pour to expand the footprint of Shiley-Marcos. The partner suites to the southwest will have a view of the Willamette River.

Final shear walls poured as structural steel arrives. Formwork for the generator storage starts the exterior structures.

Over the last few weeks, structural steel has become the back bone of the Innovation Center. The final pieces of metal deck and welding will pave the way for Cross Laminated Timber coming up!

Reaching new heights, we are up to the roof! The cross-laminated timber roof will be seen from the lobby and cantilever main entry way. The solar array stanchions have also been placed.

Now that CLT installation is complete, the hot-tar applied roofing work can commence. Exterior framing has started around the North and East sides of the building.

May has been a month of slab pours. This work will kick off curtain wall and help get the building dried-in. Insulation on the roof continues.

The brick colors and pattern going up on the North side are inspired by Shiley Hall. Weather barrier, insulation, and curtain wall continue around the building.

The brick work is nearly finished on the North side of the building, window installation has started on level 4, and excavation for the River Terrace seat walls has begun.

Exterior hardscapes begin to take shape. Prep for asphalt and sidewalks on the north side has begun. Final solar shades are being installed on the west side.

New curbs and paving on north side begin to take shape. Lower roof cap sheet has been installed. Steel for PV arrays emerges on roof.

The air handling unit and the chiller are installed and ready to receive power. Final metal panels are being installed to finish up the exterior facade.

Fine grade at the west is starting to take shape for upcoming paving and hardscapes. North face metal panels installed below the brick and at the shop windows.

Hardscapes at the west side of the building begin to take shape with the second round of paving complete and the River Terrace sidewalk and patio complete.

Plaza space and sidewalks continue to grow from the Shiley-Marcos Center to connect to the rest of the campus. Work continues to prepare for landscaping.

With the site paving complete, the project is ready for plants! Bike racks have been installed and Alaskan Cedar benchs are on their way.

Notes: The sidewalk from Orrico Hall to Shiley Hall will be closed, but a detour to Franz will be available for foot traffic.

Sewer Vault Repair
Location: Mehling Hall Sewer Vault

Notes: Skanska is upgrading the coating of the sewer vault. Water and sewer will be shutdown at the impacted buildings for the duration of this work.

Crane Pick for Roof Equipment
Location: The road between Orrico Hall and Shiley-Marcos.
Impacts: This work will impact car and foot traffic on the road from Orrico Hall to Shiley Hall. Cars and deliveries will be flagged through when it is safe to do so. Pedestrian access up to Shiley Hall and the Tennis Center will be re-routed to Franz Hall.
Notes: Parking for Orrico Hall will be blocked off the entire day for truck staging.
