Building for a Better Society
Executive Construction Leadership Program (ECLP)
About the program
Our ECLP is an executive-level, nomination-based program designed to facilitate ongoing access, knowledge-sharing and mutually beneficial partnerships between Skanska and diverse business executives who are ready to take on larger roles—both on our projects and in the industry. Participants from each region are handpicked by Skanska’s general managers, account managers, business developers and local Supplier Diversity team members, and in many cases, they become strategic partners to our project delivery teams.
Construction Management Building Blocks (CMBB)
About the Program
Skanska offers a free, multi-week training program called Construction Management Building Blocks. Courses are designed to provide construction-specific training for local trade partners and suppliers, and they can be adjusted to address the specific requirements of our projects. Topics include strategic approaches to the bidding process, contracting methods, insurance/bond requirements, safety requirements, LEED®, sustainable building practices and other techniques to help firms become more successful.
Our Supplier Diversity Team
The Supplier Diversity team maximizes opportunities for diverse firms through inclusive business practices. We administer Skanska's DBE Compliance Program and help our project teams understand its requirements. Our group also conducts values-based engagement to build capacity for diverse firms.

Participants are chosen based on their company values, leadership potential, success in the local market, relationships with clients and connections with community stakeholders.

Hear from Our ECLP Cohort
In this short video, participants from across the country discuss their experience and passion for the construction industry.
No.
ECLP is an ongoing relationship with no graduation or endpoint.
ECLP does not require formal or mandatory meetings. It is not a formal joint venture, association or partnership, nor is it a guaranteed job opportunity.
The local Skanska office should engage regularly with the candidate and work with them to create a mutual development plan that helps both Skanska and the ECLP firm grow stronger. Participants should be given access to resources, opportunities and tools, such as the Skanska Learning Center, Market Trends Reports and more.
The local office’s general manager, account manager, business developer and Supplier Diversity team member work together to identify candidate.
Participants attend an annual, two-day, in-person session at a Skanska office, where they can network with our leadership team members; learn about Skanska programs and resources; and exchange information and ideas with Skanska executives, external professionals and one another. Participants are responsible for their own travel and lodging.
No. ECLP is strategic. If a local office cannot identify a new candidate that is strategic to their business plan—particularly one with the potential to strengthen our strategic pursuits and connections with clients and community stakeholders—then that office is not required to provide a new candidate for the program.
Yes. Each Skanska office can invite one candidate for the two-day session per year. If the office does not have a new candidate to send, the office can resend a candidate.
A successful ECLP program should result in one or more of the following:
Contract awards with Skanska
Contract awards outside of Skanska
Partnerships with firms when there are no requirements
Relationships facilitated by either party
Community/industry advocacy
