We’re slashing our carbon emissions in half to go net zero carbon by 2030, and supporting our customers, suppliers and colleagues to go net zero carbon with us. All our Sky buildings are powered with renewable energy, our original TV productions are certified carbon neutral and our engineers drive electric cars.

We design for energy efficiency, building products that are made to last. Once our customers have finished with their routers, set top boxes and tech products, we recondition and reuse them. And when they are no longer useful, we recycle them. All our packaging is 100% recyclable, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified, and free from single-use plastics.
With the TV, set-top box and soundbar all built in, Sky Glass saves energy compared to having a separate products.
The screen adapts to ambient light by reducing its backlight to optimal levels when there’s lower light levels in a room.
Built-in power saving features like Auto-switch off, which kicks in after 50 minutes, when no motion is detected.
We are purchasing Energy Attribute Certificates to compensate for electricity emissions generated in the first year’s customer use of Sky Glass.
We created Sky Studios Elstree, our new film and TV studio, with the ambition of making it the most sustainable studio in the world. The campus is powered by solar and renewable energy. It uses harvest rainwater, LED lighting and electric vehicles through its operations.
People care about the planet, and across the world are feeling the effects of climate change. We’re using our channels and content to raise awareness of the climate crisis and mobilise individuals to take action, inspiring small, daily behaviour change that can make a big difference.

Working with our suppliers to reduce emissions
We work with over 11,000 suppliers. They help us to do everything from building our technology to filming our TV shows. We’re working with the suppliers we know have the greatest impact on our carbon emissions to reduce their own emissions in line with our transition to a low-carbon world. We’re also passing on the lessons we learn along the way to our suppliers, partners and competitors, to speed up change in our industry.
Investing in nature
Our priority is to lower our emissions as much as we can. It’s crucial though, that we reduce the impact of any emissions we can’t cut yet. We’ll do that by protecting and creating natural habitats, so that plants and sea grass can absorb carbon emissions. Our partners at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and WWF are helping us to maximise our impact, ensuring that these natural habitats are good for local communities, as well as the planet.
