In his first full Budget, Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has announced significant reforms to pension allowances, the capital allowances regime, and research and development tax relief.
You can view our analysis by clicking the buttons below:
Full capital expensing for business means not only an immediate corporation tax saving, but also a lower administrative burden by removing the need to calculate a deduction over several years. The R&D announcements are more targeted reliefs, intended to encourage smaller businesses.
The pension changes are welcome news for higher earners, allowing relief on more contributions than before. The Budget is otherwise light on personal tax announcements, with nothing too significant on income tax, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax.
More technical announcements are expected on tax administration and maintenance day, expected to be held later this Spring.
