What is the SomaScan® Platform?
The SomaScan Platform is a single pipeline for discovery, validation, and development. From just one 55-µL sample of EDTA plasma, serum, CSF, urine, or cell and tissue, 11,000 total protein measurements can be taken. The result is deeper disease insights, identification of the most relevant biomarkers and druggable targets, and accelerated research results.
Authorized Sites are able to offer this powerful technology on-site at their facility, making it even more convenient for other researchers in the same city or region who perform protein profiling to understand disease biology, identify drug targets, and discover biomarkers.
HIDE ALL
Broadest protein coverage
The largest commercial proteomic assay on the market, providing 11,000 protein measurements.
The SomaScan Platform is optimized for proteomics research.
Technology
With average CVs of ~5%, SOMAmer® Reagents provide reproducible results with fewer samples.
Lowest coefficient of variation
Workflow at our Authorized Site accommodates even large projects, while utilizing stringent controls to yield fast, accurate data.
340 samples
per week
Our unique approach detects very rare proteins and highly abundant proteins from the same samples simultaneously.

Applications
SOMAmer Reagents are isolated and fluorophores measured.
8
Biotinylated proteins (and bound SOMAmer Reagents) are captured on streptavidin beads.
7
A polyanionic competitor prevents rebinding of
non-specific complexes.
6
Non-specific complexes dissociate.
5
A UV light breaks the photocleavable linker.
4
Unbound proteins are washed away, and bound proteins are tagged with biotin.
3
The SOMAmer Reagents bound to streptavidin beads are used to capture proteins from a biological sample.
2
SOMAmer Reagents are synthesized with a fluorophore, photocleavable linker, and biotin.
