King’s Hotel opens near the Singapore River at Havelock,under the direction ofMr Kwek Leng Beng.
1970
The company's owners acquire Orchard Hotel as part of its expansion in Singapore and Malaysia.
1986
City Developments Limited's hotel division buys the Gloucester Hotel in London and a 13-hotel chain in New Zealand.
1993
With the purchase of the Copthorne hotel chain, Millennium & Copthorne Hotels was formed.
1995
The group makes inroads into China with the opening of the Millennium Hongqiao Shanghai, located west of the city centre.
2006
Millennium Hotels and Resorts becomes the first and only Singaporean hospitality company listed on the London Stock Exchange.
1996
Besides acquiring the Boscolo Palace Roma in Rome, the group also opens its first hotel in Japan, the Millennium Mitsui Garden Hotel Tokyo.
2014
The group continues to expand its contemporary brand M Social with the opening of its Penang branch in March.
2025
The group launches the M Social Hotel Suzhou, its first M Social-branded property in China.
2023
M Social Hotel Phuket, designed to exude a more relaxed ambience, makes its debut on the Thai island’s vibrant Patong area.
2024
