Alana is studying Nursing with Alcorn State University. Living in a rural, disadvantaged town, there haven’t been many opportunities for Alana. Growing up with a single mom, she has helped take care of her brother and the animals on their farm. Alana is very smart, caring, hard-working, and we have no doubt she will make a great nurse.
Alyssa is studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences with the University of California-Berkeley.
Alyssa is very aware of the gender gap in tech. She entered a hackathon of over 200 students, only to discover she was one of just four girls. Alyssa became a volunteer assistant for her former AP Physics teacher, joined PixelHacks, where she helped organize all-female hackathon events for students to learn in workshops, hear from industry speakers, and create tech projects for social good, and was a volunteer writer and wrote weekly Science/Technology articles. We think Alyssa is a great addition to the tech world.

After suffering a major setback in his swimming career, Aryan entered the world of speech and debate and learned that motivation, passion, and hard work were key to overcoming adversity. Aryan has competed on one of the best Speech & Debate teams in the country.
Bailey is studying Environmental Sciences at Lawrence University.
Bailey has volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House, Santa Fe Food Bank, and a reservation school working with elementary students and reading to them. As team captain of her volleyball team, Bailey learned valuable lessons in being leader.
Bryce is studying Computer Programming at the University of California-Santa Cruz.
After suffering from personal hardships, Bryce went to Peru to educate young orphans in physical education. Returning from this life changing trip, and heading back to school, Bryce had a new sense of focus and perspective.
Dorian is studying Biology at Goucher College.
Dorian helped successfully organize a free COVID-19 testing drive-by, created posters to promote and advocate for proper hygiene during the pandemic, and put together over 500 care packages that included masks, hand sanitizer, and wipes for her local community. During her high-school years, Dorian volunteered with the school’s track team for disabled students every Saturday to help raise awareness for children with disabilities.

Growing up biracial in a single parent household has been challenging for Alora, but it has not held her back into becoming the hardworking person she has become. Alora views her education as a way to break the cycle of poverty within the African American community and seizes every opportunity that comes her way.
Elizabeth is studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Mississippi.
Elizabeth became interested in mechanical engineering due to a family members cancer diagnosis and treatment. She became aware of the importance of engineering in medical treatment; Elizabeth wants to make patients’ and surgeons’ lives better by developing and improving these devices to help cure cancer. Elizabeth has also been involved with SHPE, SAME, and NAMI – three organizations Stantec is partnered with.

After applying everywhere and for anything, Ceci landed an internship with the National Science Foundation which is aligned with her career trajectory. Ceci has tutored low-income Spanish speaking 3rd grade students, 5th grade math students, and has helped raise $200,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation through a fundraising concert.
Sabrina is studying Civil Engineering with the Southern Alberta Institution of Technology.
Sabrina’s first time on a plane was in 2021 when she arrived in Canada for her undergraduate program. Sabrina started as an indecisive, introverted kid restrained by society and grew into a self-reliant individual who can express herself freely. Sabrina has come a long way by taking charge of her life and believing in herself.
Emerson is studying Biomedical Art and Visualization at Rowan University.
Emerson will be interning with the Buildings team in the Philadelphia office this summer. They make it a priority to advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. Emerson established a Gender and Sexuality Alliance at their high school, established an independent project in college called Queer Voices, and is on the executive board of Prism, their university’s LGBTQ+ activism organization.
Huong is studying Cyber Security at the University of Southern California.
Huong will be interning with the Transportation team in the New York office this summer. Outside of classes, Huong self-studied mathematical models and conducted her own research. At USC, Huong aspires to continue this interest and sharing her perspective as a global citizen. Huong believes education bears a hope and has always been an aspect to keep continuing her education.

Imandra developed a genuine interest and passion for engineering and structures after relocating to Canada in 2018. With no professional training in civil engineering, Imandra’s employer motivated her to enroll in program at George Brown College. Last summer, Samantha received an Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) grant from the University of Utah to create a cultural map of Diné Bikéyah (Navajo Nation). Samantha gathered elders' stories about their relationship to building, landscape, the Hogan – her people’s traditional home, and rituals of constructions. In her architecture program, Samantha is helping to re-Indigenize colonized spaces and will help shape the future of the university's architecture program as it moves to deliver on its promise of diversity, equity, and social justice.

Transitioning from high school to university was difficult for Jacqueline, but through hard work and dedication, she has been able to maintain a 3.9 GPA. Jacqueline focused on completing work ahead of deadlines, formed a study group, engaged in lectures, and asked for help. Jacqueline is involved with EWB and Habitat for Humanity–two organizations Stantec is partnered with. Jacqueline is becoming a confident, successful student.

Due to Montana’s family struggles, she has been a hard worker her whole life. Montana has learned to pay for her own things, and for her siblings, at a young age all while attending school, maintaining her grades, taking online college classes, and participating in extracurriculars.

Growing up, Maritoni was shy. Meeting a high school teacher who was a social butterfly, Maritoni learned from her how to get outside her comfort zone. Matthew will be interning with the Environmental Services team in the Markham office this summer. Matthew gained a role with the Ontario government in their Biodiversity and Invasive Species Section which allowed him to collaborate on policy initiatives aimed at providing frameworks for ecological conservation to improve biodiversity and mitigate climate change impacts in the province.

Mehar is a volunteer at the Women in Science and Engineering club at her university. Through this club the group develops a support system for each other and creates a less intimidating impression of science and engineering for future female students. Mehar wants to be part of the change for women of colour in STEAM; we know she can do it. Mehar is interning this summer with the Calgary Buildings team.
Minxi is studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Melbourne.
Minxi experienced negative and discriminative attitudes towards the LGBTQ+ group within the aerospace engineering field he was in. Since 2020, Minxi and his friends have been trying to change the situation with the accessibility for disadvantaged youth across the LGBTQ+ community to aerospace and STEM by starting a non-profit. They run workshops, give access to the world’s best resources, and have gained the support of local parliament members.
Nazia is studying Biology at Michigan State University.
Despite the challenges of living with Turner Syndrome, Nazia can’t imagine what her life would be like if she didn’t have it. Through the challenges of her Syndrome, Nazia has learned to see beauty in a way other people cannot, has become a stronger individual and is extremely grateful for the life that she has. Nazia is ambitious and determined to become a pediatric.
Noella is studying Animal Sciences at South Dakota State University.
Noella has been a full-time volunteer at her local free animal clinic. As a Lakota, Noella was taught that animals are sacred and was raised with the understanding, respect, compassion, and theory that we are all related. Noella wants to be a veterinarian to help the community and give back the many privileges and teachings that were shared with her.
Preston is studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of California-Berkeley.
After completing his academic pursuits, Preston intends to establish his own company where he will apply the knowledge he’s acquired throughout his studies to help the visually impaired and disabled in marginalized communities and third-world countries to achieve self-sufficient transportation to-and-from medical treatment centers and in day-to-day life.
Reginald is studying Physiology and Neurobiology at the University of Connecticut.
As a person of color, Reginald realized that minorities were not well represented globally in STEM fields and decided to harness his innate compassion and desire to heal in providing care to those that are medically vulnerable. Reginald has a desire to increase education on race issues—issues he has experienced himself. Reginald wants to be the change and we believe he will be.
Rupal is studying Computer & Information Sciences at the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology-Delhi.
Rupal founded the first ever Women-In-Computing society at her university to provide career support and allyship to women in STEM. Here, Rupal leads and mentors a community of roughly 2000 students across India. Rupal has brought awareness and facilitated online education for those who have dropped out due to lack of financial support and those affected by the pandemic. Rupal has made education more accessible.
Sarah is studying Microbiology/ Bacteriology at the University of Melbourne.
Diagnosed with Crohn’s disease over two years ago, Sarah’s education and social life were deeply affected. However, Sarah has grown immensely since then and has adjusted to her new life. Sarah is planning to pursue a research career in Crohn’s and has created a proposal in the area which won 2nd place at a university competition. Balancing school and work and becoming President of the Arabic Language Society at university, Sarah refuses to let Crohn’s defeat her.
Sonia is studying Computer Programming at the University of Washington-Seattle Campus.
Sonia has been financially independent and self-supporting since 2020. Sonia has been working as a Teaching Assistant for a Computer Science course to help pay for her cost of living. Rather than focusing on the cost of attaining her education, Sonia wants to focus on the education itself. Sonia is going to push her professional boundaries the way she always dreamed of.

Living in a small rural township and attending rural schools in Canterbury, New Zealand, Jacinda has firsthand experience at how important it is to have good facilities providing health care. There is a shortage of women doctors in rural areas, nor do rural communities have the same access to pediatric health care as people in larger cities. This is why Jacinda is specializing in pediatrics.

The aim is to demonstrate appreciation to the Australian community for welcoming refugees through VSA’s philanthropic efforts and establish and maintain relationships within the Vietnamese community.
Kathrine is studying Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University.
Kathrine knows that problem solving skills are necessary during the design and implantation of a project, and the complexity of those problems fascinates her. To help grow her skills, Kathrine seeks opportunities that serve her community: planted an orchard that yielded 34,000lbs of fruit for the local Food Cupboard, repurposed leftover construction materials into an above ground garden, and led a team to custom build table and chairs for a local clubhouses children’s after-school/weekend program.

Jordan had an eye-opening experience when he volunteered with Ascot Vale Special School. Working with children with mild disabilities was tough but rewarding. Jordan also volunteers with the Royal Children’s Hospital Pharmacy Dispensary where he developed critical communication skills and an appreciation for healthcare workers and the job they do every day.
Katrina is studying Journalism at Harvard.
After losing her family home in Hurricane Harvey, Katrina starting tutoring kids who were also displaced by the storm. Katrina also created a service organization called Crafting Connections for the senior citizens who were rescued during the storm. This organization helps the elderly community share their legacy for the next generation through poetry, oral history, and writing workshops.
Keerthanna is studying Chemical Engineering at Brunel University.
Keerthanna lived in Italy for 11 years before moving to the UK in 2016. Keerthanna found it difficult as English is not her first language but chose to study STEM as she enjoyed chemistry and physics. After receiving some disappointing grades, Keerthanna put the results aside and worked on how to improve her exam techniques, completed papers, and put hard work into her studies. Now, Kreethanna holds a 4.0 GPA.

Lily has dreams, goals, and ambitions – so many things she wants to do, places she wants to see, and memories she longs to make. Determined to make math accessible and inclusive, Maggie started the inteGIRLS Missouri chapter which ran contests for girls and nonbinary people that emphasized community and teamwork. Half of the 200 participants were new to math contests, but their enthusiasm was contagious as they explored the problems together with curiosity. Maggie is a natural born leader.

Maliha is a first generation Canadian as well as a Muslim and wants people to know that she surpassed every barrier—and will continue to break through the biases, because of both her work ethic and passion as a young female who continues to use every opportunity Canada has provided.
Vitalis is studying Music, Interior Design at Alabama State University.
Despite the pandemic thwarting Vitalis’ in-person interactions as a musician, it gave him an opportunity for personal growth musically. On top of the pandemic, the challenges and vulnerability of being an immigrant student became evident. Vitalis hopes that one day students will be able to access professional development through internships based on skill and productivity potential rather than citizenship status.
Valerie is studying Industrial Engineering & Design at the University of South Florida.
Back in eighth grade, Valerie began to understand that life was much more than just hitting the books. Valerie decided to become an active member at school by joining the basketball team, becoming class committee, cofounder of an English club, and getting involved the with community. Because of this, Valerie has learned valuable life lessons in patience and determination.
Vanessa is studying Economics at Columbia University.
Vanessa will be interning with the Transportation team in the New Jersey office this summer. Vanessa started a fundraiser to help one of the most vulnerable immigrant groups in the U.S: DACA Dreamers. The fundraiser aims to help pay for the costly Homeland Security Fees for DACA applications and offset the burden on families who are trying to improve their lives.
Will is studying Engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
Will joined the National FFA Organization and has become a very active leader within the community. The confidence Will has gained through the organization will help him pursue his degree, have a fulfilling career, and a lifetime of leadership, dedication, and service to others in his community.
Sarah is studying Microbiology/Bacteriology at the University of Melbourne.
Living in a small rural township and attending rural schools in Canterbury, New Zealand, Jacinda has firsthand experience at how important it is to have good facilities providing health care. There is a shortage of women doctors in rural areas, nor do rural communities have the same access to pediatric health care as people in larger cities. This is why Jacinda is specializing in pediatrics.

Jessica is a team member for the VSA Culture Club which seeks to promote and preserve the Vietnamese-Australian identity and to unite youths with a common appreciation for the Vietnamese culture. The aim is to demonstrate appreciation to the Australian community for welcoming refugees through VSA’s philanthropic efforts and establish and maintain relationships within the Vietnamese community.
Jacinda is studying Medicine at the University of Otago.
After losing her family home in Hurricane Harvey, Katrina starting tutoring kids who were also displaced by the storm. Katrina also created a service organization called Crafting Connections for the senior citizens who were rescued during the storm. This organization helps the elderly community share their legacy for the next generation through poetry, oral history, and writing workshops.
Katrina is studying Journalism at Harvard.
Kathrine knows that problem solving skills are necessary during the design and implantation of a project, and the complexity of those problems fascinates her. To help grow her skills, Kathrine seeks opportunities that serve her community: planted an orchard that yielded 34,000lbs of fruit for the local Food Cupboard, repurposed leftover construction materials into an above ground garden, and led a team to custom build table and chairs for a local clubhouses children’s after-school/weekend program.
Katrina is studying Journalism at Harvard.
Jordan had an eye-opening experience when he volunteered with Ascot Vale Special School. Working with children with mild disabilities was tough but rewarding. Jordan also volunteers with the Royal Children’s Hospital Pharmacy Dispensary where he developed critical communication skills and an appreciation for healthcare workers and the job they do every day.

Maggie will be interning with the Information Technology team in the Waterloo office this summer. Determined to make math accessible and inclusive, Maggie started the inteGIRLS Missouri chapter which ran contests for girls and nonbinary people that emphasized community and teamwork. Half of the 200 participants were new to math contests, but their enthusiasm was contagious as they explored the problems together with curiosity. Maggie is a natural born leader.

Lily has dreams, goals, and ambitions – so many things she wants to do, places she wants to see, and memories she longs to make. Lily wants to make the world a better place and through her studies of neuroscience and psychology, we believe Lily will be equipped with the knowledge and knowhow to do so.

Despite the challenges of living with Turner Syndrome, Nazia can’t imagine what her life would be like if she didn’t have it. Through the challenges of her Syndrome, Nazia has learned to see beauty in a way other people cannot, has become a stronger individual and is extremely grateful for the life that she has. Nazia is ambitious and determined to become a pediatric.
Noella is studying Animal Sciences at South Dakota State University.
Noella has been a full-time volunteer at her local free animal clinic. As a Lakota, Noella was taught that animals are sacred and was raised with the understanding, respect, compassion, and theory that we are all related. Noella wants to be a veterinarian to help the community and give back the many privileges and teachings that were shared with her.
Preston is studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of California-Berkeley.
After completing his academic pursuits, Preston intends to establish his own company where he will apply the knowledge he’s acquired throughout his studies to help the visually impaired and disabled in marginalized communities and third-world countries to achieve self-sufficient transportation to-and-from medical treatment centers and in day-to-day life.
Reginald is studying Physiology and Neurobiology at the University of Connecticut.
As a person of color, Reginald realized that minorities were not well represented globally in STEM fields and decided to harness his innate compassion and desire to heal in providing care to those that are medically vulnerable. Reginald has a desire to increase education on race issues—issues he has experienced himself. Reginald wants to be the change and we believe he will be.
Rupal is studying Computer & Information Sciences at the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology-Delhi.
Rupal founded the first ever Women-In-Computing society at her university to provide career support and allyship to women in STEM. Here, Rupal leads and mentors a community of roughly 2000 students across India. Rupal has brought awareness and facilitated online education for those who have dropped out due to lack of financial support and those affected by the pandemic. Rupal has made education more accessible.
Sabrina is studying Civil Engineering with the Southern Alberta Institution of Technology.
Sabrina’s first time on a plane was in 2021 when she arrived in Canada for her undergraduate program. Sabrina started as an indecisive, introverted kid restrained by society and grew into a self-reliant individual who can express herself freely. Sabrina has come a long way by taking charge of her life and believing in herself.
Samantha is studying Architecture at the University of Utah.
Last summer, Samantha received an Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) grant from the University of Utah to create a cultural map of Diné Bikéyah (Navajo Nation). Samantha gathered elders' stories about their relationship to building, landscape, the Hogan – her people’s traditional home, and rituals of constructions. In her architecture program, Samantha is helping to re-Indigenize colonized spaces and will help shape the future of the university's architecture program as it moves to deliver on its promise of diversity, equity, and social justice.

Diagnosed with Crohn’s disease over two years ago, Sarah’s education and social life were deeply affected. However, Sarah has grown immensely since then and has adjusted to her new life. Sarah is planning to pursue a research career in Crohn’s and has created a proposal in the area which won 2nd place at a university competition. Balancing school and work and becoming President of the Arabic Language Society at university, Sarah refuses to let Crohn’s defeat her.
Sonia is studying Computer Programming at the University of Washington-Seattle Campus.
Sonia has been financially independent and self-supporting since 2020. Sonia has been working as a Teaching Assistant for a Computer Science course to help pay for her cost of living. Rather than focusing on the cost of attaining her education, Sonia wants to focus on the education itself. Sonia is going to push her professional boundaries the way she always dreamed of.
