Cynthia Irizarry, PhD
Professor Cynthia Irizarry joined the faculty in 2009. She arrived from Stetson University, where she served as an Associate Professor of Communication Studies specializing in organizational communication, public relations, and health communication. Prior to a career in academia, Cynthia was a public relations specialist with the Ford Motor Company Technology and Engineering Division and the City of Detroit Department of Parks and Recreation.
Taisik Hwang, PhD
With a research grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation-Journal Foundation/Walter Jay and Clara Charlotte Damm Fund, Dr. Hwang is currently working on a multi-year project titled “Improving Strategic Communication for Government and Public Sector Organizations by Utilizing Social Media.” This project includes five studies which focus on examining how various social actors (e.g., government organizations, non-profit organizations, religious institutions, and commercial brands) strategically use social media to fulfill their goals and how individuals interact with their messages.
Frank Irizarry
Frank Irizarry is an instructor in the Department of Advertising, Public Relations & Social Media. He received his MA in Speech Communication from Northern Illinois University and his BA from Marist College. His emphasis is in health communication and public relations. His scholarly interests include public relations, health communication, persuasion, communication apprehension, critical studies of popular culture, and scientific communication. Frank teaches public relations courses at Suffolk University.
