Roberta Walsh’s late husband, Richard J. Walsh, BA ’58, JD ’60, held a strong, lifetime loyalty to Suffolk University, beginning as a first-generation undergraduate history major and continuing through his enrollment at the Law School. According to his wife, he highly valued education, recognizing its role in opening doors to opportunities that would be beyond reach otherwise.
Roberta also recognized the significance of higher education. She, too, is a first-generation college student, choosing Framingham State University for her undergrad and providing the foundation that ultimately led her to graduate studies and a career in academia.
“For us, education was a strong part of our shared value system as we lent support for scholarships to our respective alma maters over the years,” she says. “The idea for establishing a scholarship that would enable an FSU graduate to attend Suffolk Law seemed a “natural” that would fulfill a mutual objective as alumni donors to both institutions.”
The Walshes generously contributed to the Framingham State University Scholarship as part of the First Generation College Student Scholarships at Suffolk Law.
