Professor Lisle Baker won the Outstanding Practitioner Award from the world’s preeminent group of social scientists studying how humans thrive. The International Positive Psychology Association honored Baker for his teaching and scholarship and for advancing the effort to add aspects of professional identity and law student well-being to the accreditation standards for law schools. Professor Emerita and Research Professor Karen Blum, JD ’74, was recognized by the Federal Judicial Center with a lifetime achievement award for over 30 years of dedicated service as an educator of federal judges, especially in the area of Section 1983 litigation.
Professor Stephen Cody was named Faculty Member of the Year by Suffolk Law students at the annual student awards ceremony. Cody was selected for his devotion to student learning and his engaging teaching style.
Practitioners-in-Residence David Colarusso and Quinten Steenhuis received a $10,000 justice innovation award from the Foundation for Improvement of Justice, Inc., a private, nonprofit organization recognizing those who have improved the justice system in the U.S. Steenhuis also won an American Legal Technology Award in the innovative applications category.
Professor Emeritus and Research Professor Dwight Golann received the Education Award of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Arbitrators of East Africa. He also received the Massachusetts Bar Association’s 2023 Professor Frank E.A. Sander Award in Dispute Resolution, honoring the legacy of Frank Sander, a luminary in the field.
Professor Renée Landers was named to Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s 2023 Circle of Excellence, a select group of pioneers, educators, trailblazers, and role models who are previous recipients of the publication’s Top Women of Law award.
Professor Samantha Moppett, JD ’95, received an Outstanding Service Award from the Association of Legal Writing Directors (ALWD) for her commitment to the ALWD community.
Professor Sarah Schendel won the Deborah Rhode Prize for Early Career Scholars from the International Association of Legal Ethics. She won the international accolade for her paper “Due Dates in the Real World: Extensions, Equity, and the Hidden Curriculum,” published in the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics (2022).
Professor Kathleen Elliott Vinson, JD ’95, received the Catherine T. Judge Teaching & Service Award at the All Rise alumni event for her innovative teaching and commitment to student mentorship. Vinson, director of Suffolk Law’s Legal Practice Skills Program, has led the legal writing program to top-ten U.S. News rankings for 12 years running.
