For Damian Wilmot, JD ’00, Suffolk Law remains a significant presence, both personally and professionally.
Rising through the executive ranks in biotech over the last 15 years, Wilmot has regularly hired Suffolk Law graduates. They often outperform their peers from other local law schools, he says. “Our students are scrappy and they graduate ready for legal practice. They are driven and they perform at a high level. They’re truly excellent,” he says.
Wilmot, the chief legal officer and corporate secretary for BridgeBio Pharma Inc., a biotechnology company headquartered in San Francisco, has remained connected to Suffolk Law since graduation. He was a member of the Law School Alumni Association Board of Directors, served on the Suffolk University Board of Trustees, and in 2022 joined the Law School Dean’s Cabinet.
Wilmot also led the search committee that hired Dean Andrew Perlman and is a recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award from the Suffolk University Black Alumni Network. Wilmot has generously contributed to the school through the Suffolk University Law School Annual Fund, the Suffolk University Law School Student Scholarship Fund, the Suffolk University Black Alumni Network Scholarship Fund, and the Access and Opportunity Fellowship Program Fund.
Through those contributions, Wilmot says, he hopes to support the continued excellence of students and faculty and to help graduates achieve successful employment outcomes. He offers a call to action to help grow Suffolk’s endowment.
“I’d love to see increased donorship from the alumni base. We have a lot of folks who come out of that school who have done very well and have benefited from their time at Suffolk,” he says. “I’d love to see them look back and reach deep in their pockets.”
