fall 2024

In 2012, just 47% of college students voted in the presidential election. Two years later, during the 2014 midterm elections, that rate fell to a scant 19%. Young adults had become the least represented population in national elections.
The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge was launched in 2016 to remedy that. With a mission of “graduating students into voters,” the national nonpartisan organization has built a network of more than 1,000 colleges and universities that have committed to expanding civic education, political engagement, and voter participation.
Suffolk joined the challenge in 2018, and President Marisa Kelly is one of more than 700 higher education leaders who have committed their campuses not only to full student voter participation, but also to building programs that keep students politically engaged before, during, and after elections. Suffolk’s 2024 Democracy Challenge Action Plan has earned a top rating from ALL IN.
