Seemingly intractable problems require creative solutions. That’s why Suffolk Law School’s Housing Discrimination Testing Program partnered with filmmaker and adjunct professor Daniel Weidknecht of the College of Arts & Sciences’ Communication, Journalism, & Media Department to shine a harsh light on the pervasive and persistent issue of housing inequality.
Their documentary, Roxbury—an intimate exploration of a vibrant community’s efforts to rise above discriminatory housing policies such as redlining and the legacy of race-based income disparities—debuted at the Roxbury International Film Festival and has been screened by the Association of American Law Schools and Ford Hall Forum at Suffolk University, and at Amazon’s Corporate Legal Summit.
President Marisa Kelly hailed the collaboration as an example of the University’s core commitment to access and inclusion and praised “faculty who provide experiential learning opportunities like this that engage our students in addressing the most pressing problems we face today.”
