When he was a student-athlete at Suffolk, Leo Fama II, BSBA ’86, made a name for himself on the basketball court, scoring 1,241 points over the course of his college career. He once tallied 45 points in an overtime victory against Plymouth State College, a record that still stands as the third-highest single-game tally in program history.
Fama, who went on to earn a JD from the New England School of Law, advanced to a new court this year when he was sworn in as a district judge by Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey—who also knows her way around the paint. She was a star point guard and captain of the women’s hoop squad at Harvard during her undergraduate years, then played professionally in Europe for two seasons.
Fama has been practicing law for 33 years, specializing in litigation and arbitration of criminal and civil law matters. He also coaches basketball at the youth level. He lives in Lynnfield with his wife and four children.
