Every month, over 240 million users visit Twitch, the world’s largest video game streaming platform, to play and watch gaming content. In early March, Suffolk mascot Rammy proved to be a clutch player for the Boston Celtics video game team during the NBA 2KLeague “Nothing But Internet” Class Crowns Tournament—which attracted an astounding 1.3 million views.
The Celtics squad—led by Student Government Association President Clinton Oreofe in the role of Rammy—dominated the competition, clinching the championship over seven other top collegiate NBA 2K teams from across North America. Suffolk earned its seat at the gaming table thanks to the University’s strategic partnership with the Boston Celtics, which serves as a cornerstone of the Sawyer Business School’s Sports Management Program.
The tournament showcased not only Rammy’s gaming skills but also highlighted the real-world opportunities available to students through Suffolk’s professional sports partnerships and innovative approach to sports management education.
