In 2024 the Sawyer Business School launched its IMMERSE framework, which expands on the University’s longstanding commitment to experiential education, immersing students “into practice,” says Dean Amy Zeng, “so they can learn by doing and by discovery.” Now there’s a space to expand on that commitment: This fall the Business School officially opened a new Immersion Hub on the fifth floor of Sargent Hall.
The Hub boasts a trading and tech studio as well as an immersive-education gallery featuring projects and awards. Plans for the space include tie-ins to events like Boston Fintech Week and AI Week and presentations by faculty and outside experts. There will even be an AI Ideation Display, which will play a loop of 60-second videos submitted by students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
“We want the Immersion Hub to be a central place to unite students, educators, and key stakeholders for impactful immersive learning and community building,” says Kevin Sweeney, director of immersive education. —Ben Hall
