This past academic year, the Sawyer Business School earned not one, but two national awards for its initiatives.
The first was for its embrace of artificial intelligence (AI) as an essential component of a business school curriculum. In 2024, SBS launched the Sawyer Business School Artificial Intelligence Leadership (SAIL) collaborative, with a goal of redefining business education and leading the charge in community-based AI innovation. For its work in this area, the Business School received an Eduventures Innovation Award, which recognizes individuals and organizations committed to improving outcomes in higher education. Now in its ninth year, the award program is sponsored by Encoura, a technology and data company.
The other national award came from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the governing body that awards accreditation to business schools around the world. One of 26 schools singled out for the “Innovations That Inspire” award, the Business School was recognized for its successful partnership with the Boston Celtics, which has just been extended for another three years.
The extended partnership will give students new opportunities for sports marketing and consulting, including the chance to work with the Maine Celtics, an NBA G League team based in Portland. “We’re excited to continue the partnership with this incredible organization,” says Amy Zeng, dean of the Sawyer Business School. “It immerses our students in the business of professional basketball and provides them with unparalleled learning opportunities.” —Ben Hall
