Alumni News
Over the last year, President Kelly, University trustees, Advancement colleagues, and I met with many of you at events here in Boston, around the country, and abroad. My appreciation goes out to the committed alumni and friends who hosted gatherings in California, Florida, New York, New Hampshire, Toronto, London, and, of course, Massachusetts.
As I meet and get to know more and more of you, I am consistently impressed by your deep commitment to Suffolk and to the success of our students. You are always eager to hear what’s happening on campus and how students are doing. You ask many great questions, but the one I hear most often is: How can I help?
While there are myriad ways our alumni and friends can and do help Suffolk, the most vital is by supporting scholarships. The majority of our students receive some form of financial aid, making this the area of greatest need and the best way to make an immediate impact. Contributions to scholarships go directly to underwriting tuition and can often be what makes it possible for students to enroll and remain at the University.
The Suffolk Entrepreneurship and Educational Development (SEED) Collaborative—which you have read about in the previous pages—offers another significant opportunity to support Suffolk and our students. This immersive, real-world learning experience equips students with the skills and confidence they will need to succeed when they enter the workforce. At the same time, by assisting small businesses, it also fulfills another key aspect of our mission: to positively impact communities. The success of SEED depends on Suffolk alumni and friends who not only provide expertise and mentorship but also financial support.
The University recently rolled out a new strategic plan, aptly named Suffolk Forward, and it speaks directly to the urgency and potential impact of these two areas of need. In the months ahead, there will be opportunities for you to learn more about the strategic plan, SEED, and the experiences of our talented and motivated students. I look forward to meeting many more of you at future events and being able to thank you in person for all that you do for Suffolk and our students.
With best wishes,
Karin Klim
