Dean’s Cabinet
Making the jump to Suffolk Law while working full-time as an accountant, John Colucci, JD ’92, soon discovered the challenges of balancing work, school, and personal life—and found a way forward thanks to fellow classmates in Suffolk Law’s evening classes.
“We were all juggling demanding jobs and personal commitments, yet there was a shared sense of purpose and mutual support,” he says. “That environment fostered a deep respect for the dedication it takes to pursue law under those circumstances.”
Colucci found camaraderie and a vigorous learning environment that provided flexibility. “This ability to combine coursework and paid practical experience was invaluable to me,” he says. “That accessibility made all the difference.”
It’s an opportunity that Colucci wants future Suffolk Law students to experience as well. “I joined the Dean’s Cabinet because I believe in Suffolk Law’s mission and its impact on the legal community,” Colucci says. “Supporting the dean’s vision and helping to strengthen the school’s future felt like a natural extension of my commitment to the profession and to the next generation of lawyers.”
Today, Colucci serves as managing director at McLane Middleton, a regional law firm with five offices across Massachusetts and New Hampshire, where he draws on the skills and insights he gained at Suffolk to advise clients, lead teams, and shape firm strategy.
“Suffolk gave me more than just a legal education; it gave me a practical foundation for problem solving, strategic thinking, and client advocacy,” he says. With a curriculum focused on real-world application, Suffolk Law prepared Colucci to navigate complex legal and business challenges with steady confidence.
Thanks to support from Colucci and others in the Dean’s Cabinet, Suffolk Law students can continue to learn in an environment that values hard work, inclusivity, and practical excellence. “Suffolk Law opened doors for me at a time when flexibility and opportunity were essential, and it continues to shape the way I lead and serve,” he says.
