In Suffolk Law’s 115-year history, the school had never held commencement in Boston’s legendary Fenway Park. That changed this past May when the school held its ceremonies there for the Classes of 2020 and 2021. The Class of 2020 commencement had been postponed due to the pandemic.
For commencement speakers Carmen Ortiz, former U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts, and the Hon. Serge Georges, Jr. JD’96, HLLD’21, an associate justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the venue was a fitting place to celebrate the unprecedented effort members of Suffolk’s graduating classes made as they adapted to a historic global pandemic.
“What would I have wanted to know when I was in your shoes?” Ortiz asked the graduates. “But the truth is, I was never in your shoes. You are a class like no other.”
